Here you'll learn how to create teacher accounts and how to group students by creating a classroom.
The two main reasons you'd create a classroom are 1) to group students for analytical purposes (see Viewing Aggregate Student Results) and 2) to give teachers access to their pool of students. It's not enough to create a teacher profile and give them a login; teachers have to be connected to a classroom to be able to see their students.
Note: The full functionality discussed here is only accessible if you are the administrator of your account. Teachers can only see the students and classes that they are assigned to. Teachers will not be able create new teacher accounts, create new classrooms, nor see students who aren't in their classrooms. |
The two places to Create a New Class are (1) in the Class List view at the bottom of your Dashboard page, and (2) by finding the teal bar at the top of any page, clicking the Class dropdown, and scrolling past any classes you've already created to +Create New Class.

1. First, name the class you want to create and click Create Class.
2. Assigning Teachers:
a. For Existing Teachers: Simply click Add to Class and they will be able to view and manage all of the class's students when they log into their Teacher account. If you've made a mistake, click Remove to take them out of the class.
If you only assigned existing teachers, you can click on Assign Students in the upper-right.
b. For New Teachers: If you need to create a new teacher for the class, you can do that by clicking “Create a new teacher” at the bottom of the page.
Enter the username and email, and generate a password. Under Assign to Classes, you will see a dropdown menu of the available classes. Select the one you just created, along with any other classes you would like to assign the teacher to. You may create up to 10 teachers at a time. Then, click Create Teachers.
Once you create the teachers, you will see a link at the bottom that says: “Click here to assign students to the class.” Click on the link to take you to the Assign Students page.
3. Assigning Students: Clicking the Add to Class button next to a student's name will move that student onto the class roster. If you've made a mistake, click Remove to take them out of the class.
Note: Students can be part of more than one classroom, teachers can be part of more than one classroom, and classrooms can have more than one teacher. |
Then click Configure Class in the upper-right.
4. Now, you will see the Class Settings page.
For more details on the Class Settings you'll be able to change, see Hiding Student Scores and School Data and Locking Tests. |
Your class will now be visible in the Class dropdown menu with the number of students in the classroom next to the name, as seen below.
