Since this is a proctored writing sample, there are some items that are prohibited while students are completing their essay:
Approved Items:
- Computer/Laptop
- Blank paper
- Pen/Pencil
- Water
- Small snack (please do not choose something that will be messy/distracting for the student)
Restricted Items:
- Cell Phones
- Books
- Any additional devices besides your computer(iPad, tablet, smart watch, etc)
- You also may not have any additional browsers open on your computer.
The use of blank scratch paper during the online essay for planning and note taking IS allowed. It can be very helpful to many students to plan out their essay before they start writing.
However, they need to make sure to type their essay into our system before the allotted time is over. We do not accept essays written on paper. All essay submissions must be typed into our online essay platform.
